Just published "Repeat After Me"--a blog entry about kids who follow the same path as their parents when they grow up, and those who don't.

Have added 4 important Links for those needing info or support re: domestic or dating violence to my blog.

EMAIL I JUST RECEIVED RE: reconstructive facial surgery

by Pat

If you need or know someone who might be interested in getting (free) reconstructive facial surgery because of DV scars or damage, please read (and/or PASS ON) this letter, and let me or Jennsy know.
Thanks.

Hello Patricia,

I am contacting you regarding a project I am currently working on for the Discovery Health Channel. This project is a pilot program, "Saving Faces", which will focus on individuals whom have incurred severe facial injury and trauma who are in need of reconstructive surgery in order to move forward in their lives. Selected individuals will be treated pro bono by world renown, double board certified New York surgeon, Dr. Andrew Jacono. I know that you already have a reconstructive surgery program in effect, but perhaps there is a way for your organization to work with us as well on this project.

We are currently trying to locate an individual who is a victim of domestic abuse and in need of treatment to remove the final scars in order to restart her life. We recognize the difficulty of locating the correct person for this program and request your assistance in our outreach. We are not only searching for someone who has been educated to the co dependency issues of domestic violence and worked on their inner healing and empowerment, but also, someone who would not be endangered by exposure through programming. That said, our staff is committed to helping an abused woman receive this amazing opportunity to move forward through this surgical renewal.

I would like to work with you in order to outreach into the greater community of providers who serve victims of domestic violence in the your area. Would it be possible to have a conversation at your earliest convenience about this project and our outreach? I have included further information about Dr. Jacono for your perusal and have attached a flier that may be forwarded to appropriate individuals. Please, do not hesitate to contact me at this email address or the phone number below with any questions.

Thank you for your consideration and time. I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully together we can make it possible for some deserving woman to truly begin a new life.

Best,
Katie White

HARM DONE

by Patricia H. Aust
(USA)

I just posted this review of a great book (HARM DONE)and discussion of effect of D.V. on kids. I volunteer once a week doing small groups with children 3-16 in the shelter or who come to the shelter weekly when their moms go to womens' groups. I have been shocked, though not surprised, by the courage and confusion of these kids and women. My blog, SHELTER KIDS, discusses my experiences.

Great site! Keep up the good work.

A BOOK EVERY TEEN AND WOMAN SHOULD READ!

by Pat

6-16-10

This info was on the Anny Jacoby site (excellent site re: women protecting themselves):

"Each time you read a story on the Internet of another stalking or domestic violence related death post a comment with the link to the “Time’s Up” book and Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit and Video with step-by-setp instruction in Chapter 4 for a victim to create (example of the video is below).

Let others know the prescription is now available for world-wide use to every victim of stalking and domestic violence. Send an email each time to a reporter after you see a story on domestic violence and tell them about the prescription. Write the producers of news and crime shows so they mention it each time they discuss a tragic case where another woman has been murdered and the person of interest has yet to be arrested.

Ask bloggers, Internet sites the drudge report, huffington post, smoking gun, mom logic or reporters, radio show personalities to consider writing a review on the information and strategies in the book. Also, if you would, leave a comment on Amazon.com.

Time’s Up’ is more than a manual, a handbook, it’s more than just another book, it’s a ‘Lifesaver,’ a surefire roadmap chocked full of ways to document evidence and protect yourself; in protecting yourself, you are also protecting your children from a life with an abuser. With your help we will eventually see a copy of ‘Time’s Up’ in every library, every police department, every school, every church and every shelter where those who need help can utilize it and protect themselves from an abuser.

“Times Up” needs national exposure. It wasn’t written to impress the professionals. It was written to save lives.” Peter Hyatt, Investigator, State of Maine Statement Analysis Labratory for Scientific Interrogation."
